The reality for Organizations and Leaders and the coaching experience...
The Pivotal Resource Group's understanding of today's business environment and the leader is that:
We understand that many organizations are committed to support the development of their leaders. Although motivated, many organizations are not well equipped to effectively provide in-house leadership development opportunities for their executives and senior managers. The assumption is that leaders and managers are already capable as a result of their past experiences and current role. Is this truly the case, or would additional, on-going leadership and management development opportunities increase their productivity for improved organizational performance? The answer...absolutely. The Harvard Business Review stated that:
"The goal of coaching is the goal of good management: to make the most of an organization's valuable resource."
The reality for executives and top managers is that "life at the top" is lonely and the assumption is that leaders and managers have all of the answers all of the time and in all situations. This also not true. The reality for leaders is:
-
The rate of change is relentless and continues to accelerate, exponentially,
-
The challenge to keep up intelligently with an understanding of the competitive market and a changing marketplace is daunting,
-
As success is achieved and accelerates, success becomes more fragile, the need for innovation more frequent,
-
The challenge is to remain relevant in the market. A reality creating pressure for leaders of organizations to create and implement change more frequently and thoroughly than in the past, therefore;
-
An accelerating rate of change demands an accelerated pace of renewal not only for the business...also for the leaders and managers of the business.
A key action for a successful business agenda will include executive coaching for leadership development to support the executive and manager as they prepare for the multitude of changes that are necessary for organizational growth and success.

The PRG Executive Coaching Process...
The Pivotal Resource Group executive coaching process flows with a comprehensive, consistent and effective approach that is connected to the leader's "real-world" routine and congruent with organizational strategy. Specific performance expectations and coaching outcomes are identified and agreed on in collaboration with the individual and organization. A customized Developmental Plan is created and implemented for accelerated leadership development of the selected executive or manager with the PRG executive coach as a close and engaged partner.
The flow of the coaching process is:
-
Awareness: What are the needs for development? PRG works with the organization and individual to be coached and identifies performance expectations and areas for development. This phase includes appropriate assessments, if needed, and clarifies appropriate organizational values and strategies as well as the leader's values, strengths and abilities including developmental needs.
-
Analysis: Is the executive or manager motivated to invest the time, energy and stress of change for leadership development? In-depth analysis of assessments, coaching discussions and additional relevant background is studied. The leader, with the PRG coach develops and commits to a specific, measurable and pragmatic "Plan." The "Plan" is linked to the leader's values, strengths and abilities.
-
Action: Is the "Plan" connected to "real-world," on-the-job experiences for effective leadership development? The executive or manager begins the execution of their "Plan" with the support of their PRG executive coach during this phase. The implementation of the "Plan" is in context to business strategies, performance goals with "milestones" to measure and assess progress as compared to performance expectations.
-
Achievement: Is the executive or manager effectively using their new or improved capabilities in achieving the goals of the "Plan?" The leader and PRG executive coach participate in a comprehensive review and feedback process that both qualitatively and quantitatively identifies the level of achievement compared to the "Plan's" stated performance goals.
-
Follow-Up: Has the coaching experience anchored sustainable leadership performance? The PRG executive coach provides added value at this critical post-program stage with additional meeting(s) and discussion(s) with the leader. These contacts are conducted at periodic intervals to support continuous learning from the "Plan" and on-going career development in support of the leader's business performance.
